Getting Here

The journey here may be half the fun, or more, but you will need to have a plan. Transportation is not included in your ticket price, and depending on where you are coming from, you have several choices regarding how to get to our mountain retreat.

Flying

To get to South Lake Tahoe by airline, likely your best bet is to fly into Reno International Airport. From the airport, there are often shuttles to South Lake Tahoe, or optionally, you can rent a car. Unless you plan to drive into town regularly though, or you simply want the freedom a car rental provides, it may be unnecessary. We don't plan to drive around a lot, and the retreat activities are mostly stationary. There will likely be enough vehicles to accommodate our joint trips into the musuems in town.

Other options include:

  • Many participants who live nearby may drive, and could arrange to pick you up, and even drop you off at the airport.
  • We may have a few shuttles to take participants to the airport at specific times.
  • Uber and Lyft are options, although expensive ones because of the distance.

Driving

Driving to South Lake Tahoe and Fjeldheim can be a delight this time of year. Fall colors, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, and mountain scenery all make the drive an incredible one. At the same time, you'll want to check the drive time from where you live, and plan accordingly. Most participants will arrive sometime Wednesday, with afternoon being the most common.

If you struggle with motion sickness or getting carsick, be prepared with your Dramamine, Sea Bands, and whatever else you need, as the roads are windy and mountainous.

There are really only a few roads that will get you here:

From the South:

From the North:

We'll send you the specific address and directions once your registration is confirmed. If you have any driving questions, please let us know. Both Nic and Troy have driven this route several times, and can give you all the advice you need and then some.
